Modern Love

Love can be seen in many types of relationships and can manifest itself in different ways, but it can also hurt when it fades away. Based on the New York Times’ Modern Love column, for Creative Non-Fiction, this sample discusses the difficulties of losing a best friend due to distance. Modern Love showcases a different side to my writing journey, in which introspection played an integral part in the writing process.

Mediating Communication

In my Group Communication in Multiple Contexts class, I wrote a research paper on mediated communication during the Covid-19 pandemic. I discussed how different communication channels altered how college classes operated and the effects that arose out of these changes. By discussing the social context surrounding covid-19 and college courses, we are able to see how members of higher education are impacted.

Experiment 1

In my Digital Storytelling class, the objective was to write a personal narrative with an event pertaining to Covid-19. This narrative follows my initial return back to my childhood home when Covid hit in 2020 as I learned to readjust to a very different life than I was used to. The narrative's intent was to focus on the different senses in a scene in an attempt to make the event truly come to life when read.

Caravaggio and His Contemporaries

In a seminar based on 17th century art, I wrote a research paper based on Caravaggio and those he influenced. Comparisons between the works of Caravaggio and his followers, Artemisia Gentileschi and Giovanni Baglione, illuminates their decisions behind integrating his elements in their pieces and how they furthered their works and advanced their own personal styles.
